  STATEMENT OF PROBLEM
The modification of the existing Sub 4A switchgear to accommodate a new 2000A feed was separated out of the main contract in an effort to reuse available assets and perform work during the 2011 X-mas shutdown. The original timeframe could not be allowed by the plant. Solaris documentation and communication were inadequate, and as the project progressed came under more scrutiny. Continual delay and drain on all parties; friction with plant personnel; potential impact to final completion date.

COURSE OF ACTION
None

LESSON LEARNED
Would be better to hire an AE to provide the design, and include in the overall facility contract. Need better communication with the plant management. Performing more work like this at a specific site will potentially build more confidence in the plant personnel.
