| STATEMENT OF PROBLEM: Column line Abe, as shown on the print (Trans 23, 948-0170-700-709), is not shown in the correct place on the floor. The print shows (45-0 + 4-0) 49''-0", but it physically measures about 53''-3". (4''-3" discrepancy) The install team started install from the East and worked to the West. When they laid it out, they used ABw column. The print shows 2 columns, they accounted the 4''-0", and pulled (51-3 + 4-0) 55''-3" to get their starting point. (4''-0") The combination of the above caused the install to be about 8''-3" off. See attached prints in photos. COURSE OF ACTION: We moved the decks to the correct location. We are making an effort to recover the cost with the customer, TBD. LESSON LEARNED FOR FUTURE PROJECTS: Check the layout more often. Tell the team to notify management if there is anything off or doesn''t make sense. Once these are complete and an issue remains, fill out an issue log and RFI to submit to customer. Where possible, field measure column locations to ensure that starting point of installation is accurate. Send RFI to engineer requesting datum point if existing conditions do not appear to match the drawings. |
