Excavation for Electrical Grounding

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM: There was a lack of coordination and clarification between CCC as the GC, and Blaze Contracting, as to who would carry the cost of excavation for electrical grounding. This project had a lot more in-ground grounding then any typical building due to the CMM application. This excavation was never brought up or discussed during pre or post bid meetings. This was not reflected anywhere in the SPSR, nor was it signed or included in the PSSA. In any event, this statement is not a viable assignment of tasks.
We also did not account for the timing of the grounding installation in the schedule.

COURSE OF ACTION: CCC self-performed excavation for electrical grounding, that was not included in base bid pricing.

LESSON FOR FUTURE PROJECTS: There needs to be more clarification and coordination between CCC and all subcontractors that may require excavation that would not normally include it in their base bid pricing. At a bare minimum, a blanket statement, "All excavation as required for all trades", should be included in the Civil subcontractors PSSA, however we need to be lock step with our subs and assign tasks accordingly via the PSSA.
