Wall-Mount Gas Fixtures
print icon

Project Phase: Construction
Delivery Method: EPC (Engineer Procure Construct)
Statement of Problem:
The lab planner architect specified point-of-use fixture types for all of the lab gases in the project. There were numerous fixtures that were to be installed at the wall with the fixture protruding horizontally from the wall.
This design posed several issues:
1) The weight of the fixture would act as a cantilever on the gas copper piping where it bends to protrude through the wall, and could compromise the integrity of the piping.
2) The wall fixture needed some type of mounting plate or support for the fixture so that it could not be bumped to come lose and damage the piping, wall, or cause a gas leak.
3) The way the fixtures were oriented horizontally from the wall above the counter space prohibited several pieces of equipment ina few labs from being able to fit on the counter space and connect to the fixture.
