Roof Maintenance Access

  Project Phase: Construction
Delivery Method: EPC (Engineer Procure Construct)

Statement of Problem:
During the design phase of the BP-06 architectural build out, the height of the mezzanine in relation of the roof steel and height of the low roof did not allow for the chain hoist/rail within the high bay to be able to sufficiently hoist materials from high bay floor to low roof. Based on the elevations, materials had to be hoisted first onto the mezzanine and then up a stair/platform to the low roof. This was unacceptable to DTE for their maintenance personnel as they required for a means to hoist materials or means for transporting a roof cart for maintenance activities on the roof. The double door leading out to the low roof is located at the roof''s low point and so had to be elevated to avoid storm water infiltration.
