| STATEMENT OF PROBLEM: Demo sub-contractor (Bluestar) demolished two dishwashers that were to remain as is. Demo crew was strictly working off demo drawings and did not refer to other pages that showed dishwashers to remain. The two dishwashers were old and we doubt they even worked, however we were still held responsible to replace them by GLWA. Architectural drawings showed all of the cabinets to be removed, but the plumbing drawings showed to save the dishwashers. COURSE OF ACTION: The demo subcontractor was held responsible for this and covered the dishwashers. We replaced the two old dishwashers with two new dishwashers. LESSON FOR FUTURE PROJECTS: This issue could have been avoided if we had a pre-construction demo meeting. Multiple trades can be involved and possibly talk through issues before they arise. |
