Ceiling Removal Not Shown

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM: There was areas on the first floor where new utilities needed to be ran. The drawings showed new lines being ran but did not show that the existing hard lid ceiling needed to be removed in order for the mechanical contractor to do their work. It may have been assumed that the mechanical crew could fish their new lines between the ceiling grid but this was not the case.

COURSE OF ACTION: CCC self performed the removal of the hard lid ceiling and after all lines were ran we re-installed the ceiling. The ceiling also needed to be re-painted.

LESSON LEARNED FOR FUTURE PROJECTS: Clarify at bid time if its acoustical or drywall ceilings below new mechanical runs, if no detail on ceilings is indicated on drawings.
