8570 GM Detroit Factory Zero Phase 3

 

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM

Body shop tooling kits arriving without complete drawings and / or material. 

 

ROOT CAUSE

N/A

 

COURSE OF ACTION

The CCC team and subcontractors, requested the missing information early on.  Reviewed drawings, walk the existing cells with prints prior to shutdown. Looking for bottle necks, areas that tooling would collide. If permitted perform layout prior to actual shutdown. Review the equipment at OEM's facility. Document the cell before and after. Provide written questions / RFI / DCR to owner. Remove as many variables as possible prior to shutdown. 

 

LESSON FOR FUTURE PROJECTS

Spend time planning, laying out cells, reviews at the OEM's. Keep the owner in the loop with written correspondence of changes and lack of support from OEM's. Provide written questions / RFI / DCR to owner. Remove as many variables as possible prior to shutdown.
