GM Pontiac Toilet Room Basin Sinks

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM
Incorrectly sized basin-style sinks were installed in the mens and womens toilet rooms, which created a code violation where the egress minimum width of 36" was impeded in the mens toilet room entrance way. The architect sized and placed the basin-style sinks at mens and womens locker rooms but did not identify the size in the drawing with a leader or note. The sinks were supposed to be 36" diameter.
The mechanical subcontractor submitted for 54" diameter basin sinks, and IBI reviewed and approved the 54" diameter sinks.

COURSE OF ACTION
CCC was required to purchase two additional 36" sinks for the mens toilet room to replace the 54" model sinks. The 54" model sinks could not be reused by JEG.

LESSON LEARNED
1) When architectural sizes plumbing fixtures, they must be identified with a leader note to ensure that mechanical adds the correct size fixture to their fixture schedule.
2) Submittal review by EOR must reference these against their drawings and not just the plumbing schedule that the mech sub creates.
3) Determine if the mech sub can reference revit file data from arch 3D model in the navis master model.
