Demolition Tagging Procedures

  Project Phase- Construction/Installation
Delivery Method- General Contract-Prime

As part of the scope we were to identify and mark utilities to be air gapped for make safe demolition. The routing of these utilities, plant logistics and infrastructure in place made the identification and marking of these utilities challenging, especially the mechanical utilities. This caused confusion during demolition and lost time following utilities to determine if they needed to stay or go.

1) Need the customer to provide more detailed drawings and tagging information for items that are hidden.
2) Need to include time in the schedule for re-tagging if needed when doing demo work above the truss line, once hidden items are uncovered.
3) Tagging procedures need to be more clear at the beginning of the job (Red stays, green goes) more labeling needed. The subs were responsible for tagging their own respective trade items.
4) Find a way to control additional tagging by customer after demo starts - they cannot continue to mark items in areas after we leave and have us come back for them.
