Demolition Noise Level Issue

  STATEMENT OF PROBLEM
The concrete was demolished using a jack-hammer, which caused some higher noise levels and led to one recordable. Also, there was a corporate safety audit that took place at the same time that identified the noise hazard. The Plant was notified of the noise and the employees were suppose to be wearing hearing protection. This led to performing the work on off-shifts at a higher cost due to premium and schedule acceleration.

COURSE OF ACTION
None

LESSON LEARNED
Thoroughly discuss the means and methods during bid clarification to make sure that it makes sense for the project and site. Engage the Plant and Safety as early in the project as possible.
