Middle Bay Press Compressed Air Criteria Issue

  STATEMENT OF PROBLEM
The compressed air demand for the two presses and FOL equipment changed after the contract aware. This was in part due to a new system late that was still being worked out in Fairfax, and all of the necessary testing was not complete prior to award. Extra effort for engineering to run through multiple scenarios and meetings. Resulted in field order to increase the capacity of compressed air to both presses.

COURSE OF ACTION
None

LESSON LEARNED
During the pre-bid phase, the Engineering group needs to work more closely with Stamping to develop a process load utility matrix with accurate demand criteria, or conservative estimates to be used in analysis and sizing. It is always more costly to pay for the change later.
