STATEMENT OF PROBLEM: Early on, we planned on doing productivity tracking to monitor the progress of various activities on site. Within the first month, it was clear that the field team and the estimators/office team had a difference in opinion of what activities constitute certain cost codes. For instance, the detailing cost code was difficult to track because of how many individual items make up one code. COURSE OF ACTION: There were several meetings held to discuss what activities should be charged to each cost code. Time sheets were revised based off of these meetings to eliminate cost codes that weren''''t getting used. LESSON FOR FUTURE PROJECTS: Project managers should review the time sheets on a daily basis to verify that the cost codes are being charged to properly. Have superintendents be involved with the cost code breakouts. |
